Quick checks if a call won’t start

Camera or mic still blocked?

Reload the page after changing permissions. If the browser can’t access either device, check the browser’s permissions in your phone settings.

Audio or video cutting out?

Try a different connection. If the issue persists, contact support with your phone model, browser and any error message.

Set up your phone before matching

Open the site in your main browser

If you tapped a link in a messaging or social app, you may be looking at a browser window inside that app. Open the address in Safari on iPhone or Chrome on Android before trying again. This makes it easier to find the site settings and check permissions. Close the earlier matching tab so you can tell which page is showing a prompt and which one is playing audio.

Check where the sound is going

If you recently used wireless earbuds, a speaker, or your car audio, check where your phone is sending sound before the call. You might have a good connection and still hear nothing if audio is going to a device across the room. If you switch to the phone speaker, start with the volume low and adjust it once your match is speaking. Use headphones when you need more privacy.

Choose a steady spot

Set the phone somewhere you can reach the call controls without covering the lens or microphone. Before starting, look for bright light behind you and move private papers or screens out of frame. If you’ve been walking or moving between rooms, pause somewhere with a stable connection. This also makes it easier to notice whether a problem starts when you move or whether it happens even when you stay in one place.

Fix the part of the call that’s failing

The phone never asks for permission

If you previously dismissed or blocked a prompt, the browser may use that saved decision when you return. Check the camera and microphone settings for videomatch.tv. If the browser still can’t use either device, check whether your phone allows the browser itself to use it. After changing access, return to the site and try a fresh match. Check the camera and microphone separately so a working picture doesn’t hide a blocked microphone.

You see video, but there’s no sound

Try to establish which direction the sound is failing. If your match can hear you, check the phone’s playback volume and where it’s sending audio. If you can hear them but they can’t hear you, focus on microphone permission and the headset you’re using. If you’re still stuck, test again without the headset. If the phone speaker works, reconnect the headset and check which device your phone selects for playback.

The call breaks up when you move

A video call can react to changes in your connection as you move away from your router or switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data. If calls are breaking up, stop moving and test again from one spot on one connection. If the problem persists, try a different connection on a new match. On Wi-Fi, try the same spot closer to the router. On mobile data, check that the browser is allowed to use it.

More questions about matching on mobile

Why can I watch the preview without granting access?

The preview is a video demonstration, so it can play while your camera is off. A live call uses your camera and microphone to send your picture and voice to the other person. If the preview plays but the live call can’t start, check the permission prompt and your browser settings before troubleshooting the preview itself.

Can I switch apps in the middle of a match?

Keep the matching tab open in the foreground during the call. What happens when you switch apps can depend on the phone and browser. If the call drops while you’re away, the app may already be searching when you return. To take a break before switching apps, hang up and cancel any search that resumes.

What if another app was using my camera?

Leave the other video app or close its call before you try again in the browser. If the camera works in the phone’s camera app but fails on VideoMatchTV, check the browser and site permissions again. If neither can use it, look for a device-level issue first. If the phone’s camera app opens to a black screen too, check the lens cover or restart the phone before trying the browser again.

What details help support troubleshoot a phone call?

Include your phone model, browser, and whether you were using Wi-Fi or mobile data. Describe the last thing that worked and the first thing that failed. For example, say whether you saw a permission prompt, saw your own picture, or heard the other person. An exact error message is helpful. Crop screenshots to leave out faces, notifications, and other private information before sharing them.
